Our first priority for the Next Steps Project was to secure agreement on the vision that we would hold for this project.

In 2011, through our workshops with the participating organisations, self-advocates, the Steering Committee and the CEO's of the participating organisations, we have developed that agreed and shared vision for individual supports.

This vision comes from three views of individual supports that are all in agreement:

1) The definition of Individual Supports from the Disability Policy Review draft published in October 2011 by the Department of Health

2) The vision statement of the National Federation of Voluntary Bodies

3) The definition of Individualised Supports from John O'Brien and the 'Individualized Supports Think Tank'. 2009 .

All of the actions that we undertake on the Next Steps Project will be aligned with this vision.
