Guiding Principles
Over a period of several months, participants of the Bridge to Community Community of Practice discussed, created and agreed on some guiding principles around rights-based supports. The purpose of these guiding principles is to provide a clear framework that supports participants:
- to identify what constitutes best practice within a rights-based approach, and
- in recognizing examples of innovation that should be shared and celebrated within the community of practice.
The guiding principles will support the creation and continued pathways forward for future innovation and practice, in alignment with the UNCRPD, and as learned and shared within the community.
These principles aim to foster consistency, encourage creativity, and ensure that supports remain rights-based, person-led, inclusive, and adaptable to evolving needs. Significant input was received from all participants and they will continue to be reviewed throughout. You can click on the link below to access the guiding principles.
