The ‘Challenge of Abuse’ Training Day has organised by the Brothers of Charity National Sex Abuse Treatment Group and was held in September 2006. The aim of the day was to provide staff with a greater understanding of the issues involved in working with victims and perpetrators of abuse. A further aim was to provide an open discussion and sharing of experiences.

Fifty eight people attended the conference and fifty people completed an evaluation form. Thematic analysis was used to review the data. The seven major themes from the analysis were: Information, Sexuality, Sharing, Staff Perceptions, Resources, Training and Service Development. A number of recommendations were made on the basis of thematic analysis of the respondents’ evaluations.
