The Quality and Standards Sub Committee held a very successful workshop on the "Role of the Persons-in-Charge" on Thursday 9th October, 2014 in the Portlaoise Heritage Hotel. (Due to unprecedented demand for places at the event bookings were closed weeks in advance).

The event included information from people who have already gone through the registration process, as well as presentations from the Health Information & Quality Authority and  the Department of Environment, Community & Local Government. The mid-morning session was chaired by Marion Meany, Head of Operations & Service Improvement Disability, HSE with the other sessions chaired by John Hannigan, Chairperson of the National Federation and Bob McCormack, Chairperson of the Quality and Standards Sub-Committee.

The day provided an opportunity for Persons in Charge (PICs) to share information, talk about issues raised during HIQA inspections and learn from the experience of others.  There was Roundtable Discussions which were followed in the afternoon by an opportunity for questions to be posed directly to Mr. Finbarr Colfer from HIQA.
