Living at home with a disability - the experiences of people with disabilities of support from their community

(05 Sep 2012)

This research report explores what makes independent living easier or harder for people with disabilities. In particular, it looked at how everyday contacts and networks, the natural supports that a community offers, can support someone with a disability to live in their own home and participate in their community. The research is based on 54 in-depth interviews with people across a range of disabilities, ages and urban and rural settings. OCS carried out the research on behalf of the National Disability Authority.
