Health Research Awards 2012

In line with its strategic objectives, the Health Research Board now invites applications for its 2012 Health Research Awards. This scheme aims to fund researchers and research teams to conduct internationally competitive and innovative research that will create new knowledge and evidence of benefit to health through investment in patient or service user-oriented research, population health sciences and health services research. The scope of the research can include research regarding disability services.

What is the scope of this scheme?

This scheme provides funding for clearly defined research projects in areas of patient-oriented research, health services research and population health sciences research up to a maximum award value of €300,000 inclusive of overheads for projects up to 36 months. Where applicable additional pension costs per project will be funded as per the Employment Control Framework.
 

Who should apply?

The Principal Investigator must hold a post (permanent or a contract that covers the duration of the award) in a recognised research institution in the Republic of Ireland (the “Host Institution”) as an independent investigator, or be a contract researcher recognised by the Host institution as an independent investigator who will have a dedicated office and research space for the duration of award, for which he/she will be fully responsible, orbe an individual who will be recognised by the Host Institution upon receipt of the HRB HRA award as a contract researcher as defined above. The Principal Investigator does not necessarily need to be employed by the Host Institution at the time of the application submission.

What is the deadline for all applications?
 

Applications must be submitted by 13:00 on the HRB eGrants system. The deadlines are as follows:
1. Health Services Research Committee
Wednesday 5 October 2011 at 13:00
2. Population Health Sciences Committee
Thursday 6 October 2011 at 13:00
3. Patient-Oriented Research Committee
Friday 7 October 2011 at 13:00
