Inclusive Education Conference Report now available

On the occasion of its 12-13 November 2009 conference “Salamanca - 15 years on: Inclusion – A school for all”, EASPD adopted its manifesto on Inclusive Education, stating that all children and adults have an equal right to high quality and appropriate education in an inclusive environment. The European Coalition for Community Living (ECCL) today published a new report highlighting that European Union funding is being used in some EU Member States of Central and Eastern Europe to renovate, or build new, residential institutions for people with disabilities.

Human rights chief criticizes European governments for neglecting rights of people with intellectual disabilities

European Coalition of Community Living - Tuesday, September 15, 2009 Thomas Hammarberg, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, published a "Viewpoint" yesterday in which he said that the rights of persons with intellectual disabilities across Europe "are still not taken seriously enough", and called on governments not merely to plan for action, but to take action.
