National Housing Strategy for People with Disability 2011-2016

The ‘National Housing Strategy for People with a Disability 2011-2016’ sets out a framework for the delivery of housing for people with disabilities through mainstream housing policy. It has been developed on a partnership basis with a National Advisory Group, chaired by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government and involving the Department of Health, the Health Service Executive (HSE), local authorities, organisations representing people with disabilities and other relevant stakeholders, including the National Disability Authority.

The Intellectual Disability Supplement to The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing Launched

The report: Growing Older with an Intellectual Disability: The First Results of The Intellectual Disability Supplement to The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (IDS-TILDA), was launched (September 9th 2011) by the Minister of State with responsibility for Disability, Equality, Mental Health and Older People, Ms Kathleen Lynch at Trinity College Dublin.

Animated Short Film Helps People with Disabilities Plan for the Future

An animated short film aimed at helping people with disabilities to plan effectively for their own futures was premiered at the Irish Film Institute in July 2011. Founder of Kanchi, Caroline Casey, launched the 12 minute short film created by Saint John of God Carmona Services which supports children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
